A new exhibition celebrating Vauxhall’s role within Luton’s industrial heritage will open at Stockwood Discovery Centre from Saturday 2nd May to Sunday 28th June from 11am – 5pm. Please note the exhibition is closed Mondays (except Bank Holiday Mondays) and Tuesdays unless it is school holidays.

Luton Made: Vauxhall, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, explores more than 120 years of Vauxhall’s history, and its lasting impact on the town.

Developed in collaboration with former employees, the exhibition brings together previously unseen photographs, film footage, memorabilia, and personal stories to highlight the people, skills, and community behind the factory. It also reflects on Vauxhall’s legacy following the plant’s final closure in 2025 and how we preserve this part of our town’s history going forward.

Key highlights include:- An interactive exploration of factory life- 6 heritage vehicles on loan from the British Motor Museum – including the first and last cars built in Luton- A programme of talks, workshops, and community events- A virtual reality experience will also launch later in May.

The opening weekend will see a family fun day on the Saturday (2nd May), and heritage cars on the lawn on the Sunday (3rd May) at Stockwood Discovery Centre.

The exhibition, and its events, are free to attend and forms part of the Luton’s wider 150th anniversary celebrations.
