DESCRIPTION:A look that leads the attention to a point in space or a beat of the drum\, the radiant and powerful gaze of a goddess\, a sensual exchange of glances between lovers: the gaze is the window to the soul. \nOdissi dancers Elena Catalano and Katie Ryan use the power of the gaze\, the drishti to take the audience on a journey through varying emotional states from the awe of the divine to the playfulness of rhythm patterns\, erotic pleasure to renunciation. The full gamut of human experience is explored. The dancers like the sun and moon have contrasting qualities that adds layers to an evening of variety and enjoyment. \nThe timeless choreography of odissi pioneer Kelucharan Mohapatra will be the backbone of the program which opens with an evocation to goddess Saraswati – the patron of art and music. A classic abstract dance item Mohana Pallavi displays the intricate technique of Odissi. Kuruyadu Nandana powerfully expresses the lyrics of Jayadev’s Gita Govinda – a 12th Century epic illuminating the union of Radha and Lord Krishna\, seeped in eroticism and devotion. Ragamalika is an exposition of the distinguished choreographer Madhavi Mudgal who adeptly explores the intricacies of tala and raga with architectural skill. Two short improvisations by the dancers punctuate the program\, allowing for a more personal exploration of poetry and the dancing form. The programme culminates with Moksha – a climactic composition ending with the upward gaze of the dancers\, reaching for enlightenment.

He has always been a vinyl collector of soul & house since the 80s. \nDiscovering the UK Garage & House scene whilst working and living in London in 94 saw Mr KJ hooked on the sound where he proceeded to carve out a name & reputation across multi genres of house / garage on the underground scene as a top notch selector / dj. \nMr KJ has played for many acclaimed underground brands across the UK including Sun City\, Sidewinder\, Garage Nation\, Cookies & Cream\, La Cosa Nostra\, Harmony Birmingham\, Groove City Nottingham which led to him holding the resident DJ slot for London event Stush for many years. Mr KJ was also resident DJ @ Up Yer Ronson Derby\, Nucleus Nottingham and had huge success as resident DJ of his own garage brand Eurotika in Warwickshire and continues today as the resident Dj promoter of Soul Fusion\, Birmingham and the Algarve Portugal. \nMR KJ has also played abroad in many locations including Ayia Napa\, Paris\, Ibiza\, Zante\, Tobago\, Padova\, Italy amongst others. DESCRIPTION:Colourscape comes to Luton for the first time! \nA large walk-in labyrinth of colour and light will fill the lawn at Stockwood Discovery Centre this August. Visitors are invited to don a primary-coloured cloak to become part of the colour experience and step into a new world of intense colour and light. \nColourscape is formed of many interlinked chambers of primary colours to create a labyrinth (each chamber c. 4M across). Step forwards and a long view of radiating colours appears. Another step and another view appears until you are surrounded and immersed in the most intense colour and light imaginable. Visitors have described the experience as being like “wrapped in a rainbow” or saying “I felt I could breathe colours!” \nYou can freely walk anywhere to explore this amazing space and will discover musicians and dancers anywhere inside leading you on a journey of all the senses. The musicians may be found in a large Silver Dome playing unusual instruments – maybe Tibetan Singing bowls or Asian instruments or instruments of water\, maybe playing the branch of a tree or a bicycle wheel with a violin bow! And the dancers express the music with creative movement that draws you into the experience. \nThis is a contemporary music\, art and dance event that everyone can enjoy from babies to 100-year-olds!
