SUMMARY:Dan Sealey: Beware Of Darkness
DESCRIPTION:Dan Sealey: Beware of Darkness Tour 2025 \nDan will be taking his own show back on the road in the Spring of 2025\, featuring music from all the bands he’s played in\, along with the often-hilarious stories he’s amassed along the way – plus material from his forthcoming album Beware of Darkness. \nDan started his career with folk rock band ‘Ocean Colour Scene’ and toured the world\, played headline slots at major festivals for over a decade and co-founded the band Merrymouth with Simon Fowler. Merrymouth featured award-winning musicians\, John McCusker\, Andy Cutting and even a guest appearance from Chas Hodges (Chas and Dave). \nDan also re-formed the legendary Music Hall double act ‘Cosmotheka’ with his father Dave who were huge on the folk scene throughout the 80’s and 90’s until Dan’s uncle\, ‘Al’ sadly passed away. Cosmotheka toured the world with Chas and Dave\, had several of their own Radio Two programmes and made multiple TV appearances. Dan and father\, Dave (one half of the original duo) decided to take the band back out on the road and had great fun headlining Folk Festivals in Bromyard\, Whitby\, Towersey\, Sidmouth\, Broadstairs and Upton to name but a few.

SUMMARY:The Skids + Special Guests
DESCRIPTION:Very pleased to announce THE SKIDS are coming to play Luton Hat Factory on Saturday 24th May \n  \nTHE SKIDS \n“Memories fade but some linger for a reason. The Skids was the definitive part of my early life. A brilliant adventure into the world of creativity and adulthood. I was a kid when I joined the band in 1977 – 16 years old. By the time the adventure had run aground I was a dazed and confused young man. We were fearless in the beginning\, always trying new things and not afraid to be different in a musical world that was beginning to sound very derivative and safe. Contrary to the reports from people who were never near the centre of the band\, Stuart Adamson and I got on very well – in fact for a long time we were very close. I enjoyed writing with him – he was generous and incredibly adaptable to my unmusical ideas. The Skids were not just another punk band – we were creatively ambitious as well as being close to the core beliefs of our hard-won fans. But most importantly we loved playing live. Taking these memories and replanting them into 2017 has not been easy. How do you do it? How should it sound? Are we little more than a tribute band? These were the questions rattling around my head as I tried to find a way to celebrate the bands 40th anniversary last year. The answers ended up being very simple – Don’t over think it – Just do it. Enjoy every minute of it. Play the songs like it might be the last time. Give it everything. And then……. there’s the new stuff!!! The beginning of something new rather than the end of something old. Enter DESTINATION DUSSELDORF” \nRichard Jobson \n  \nThe Skids were at the heart of the punk scene in Scotland and took their music to London where they were signed by Virgin records. They made 4 albums and had numerous hit singles including Into the Valley\, The Saints are Coming\, Masquerade and Working for the Yankee Dollar. \n  \nAfter the cover version of The Saints are Coming by U2 and Green Day the remaining band members reformed and played to large audiences all over the UK including iconic London venues such as The Albert Hall and The Roundhouse as well as Barrowlands in Glasgow. Their recently released album Destination Dusseldorf went to no.1 in the vinyl charts. \n  \nSpecial guest TBC.

SUMMARY:Edinburgh Preview Show: Ahir Shah and Marise Gaughan
DESCRIPTION:Check out a sneak peek from award-winning comedians\, as they make their way to the Edinburgh Fringe with brand new material. Explore our full season of Edinburgh Previews here. \nAhir Shah \n2023 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Ahir Shah is one of the fastest-rising comedians of his generation and is known for his sharp\, intellectual brand of stand-up featuring a blend of philosophical inquiry\, political vigour\, and sweet gags. \nAhir is a regular on television and radio and has appeared on shows including Live At The Apollo\, Have I Got News For You\, QI\, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown\, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order\, Mock the Week\, The Mash Report/Late Night Mash\, Guessable and Catastrophe. \nAhir’s latest stand up show Ends was Ahir’s most successful show to date\, winning the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show in 2023. The show completely sold out in Edinburgh\, adding extra shows\, and subsequently sold out five weeks at London’s Soho Theatre and two shows at the iconic Royal Court Theatre London\, as well as performances in Los Angeles as part of the Netflix is a Joke Festival. The show was filmed as a special which was released in September 2024 on Netflix worldwide\, returned for a further sold out run at Edinburgh 2024\, and will tour the UK in spring 2025. Ahir’s previous show Dots also completely sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe\, toured the UK and was released as a special on US streaming platform HBO Max filmed at the Vaudeville Theatre. The show followed Duffer and Control which also sold out and were both nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show and subsequently toured the UK and overseas. Internationally\, Ahir has played to sell out audiences at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival\, the Adelaide Fringe and Just for Laughs Montreal\, and has toured in continental Europe and India. \nMarise Gaughan \nMarise Gaughan is a critically-acclaimed comedian and author from Dublin. \nIn 2022 Marise’s debut memoir\, Trouble\, was published by Monoray. It was described by The Irish Times as ‘a graphic\, explicit\, often visceral memoir that engulfs the reader’ as it traces Marise’s unravelling through sex\, self-destruction and a near-miss with Scientology. The book went on to be an Irish Bestseller and received fantastic reviews in the press. It was published in paperback in 2023 and Marise is currently working on her first novel. \nAs a stand-up comedian\, Marise started her career in Los Angeles\, appearing in on stages including The Comedy Store and The Hollywood Improv. Since returning to the UK\, her debut stand-up show Drowning explored her father’s (successful) suicide attempt and her own (unsuccessful) one. It premiered at the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2019 where it was nominated for the Fringe’s Spirit of Wit Moira Brady Averill Award for artists whose work defies categorisation with bold and unconventional material and for the First Fortnight Award for shows that challenge stigma and prejudice about mental health. Marise was subsequently awarded the Women’s Irish Network Arts Bursary. She has also supported acts including Rob Delaney\, Ari Shaffir and Jim Norton on tour.
