DESCRIPTION:The Guy In The Luggage Rack is an aerial theatre show about grief\, memory and relationship. This narrative show combines physical comedy with striking aerial acrobatics and is the debut live show from She Said Jump. \n“Daisyʼs mum died\, nearly a year ago now. Sheʼs fine. Sheʼs busy. She canʼt complain. Except sheʼs got this slight issue with an invisible guy that wonʼt leave her alone and itʼs becoming increasingly difficult to get on with getting on.”\nDaisy is doing her best to keep her chin up and her head down – but as the 1st anniversary of her mumʼs death approaches she begins to realise grief isnʼt something she can put aside indefinitely\, and whether sheʼs willing to admit it or not\, things arenʼt fine.\nFrom the silly to the sublime to the scary to the ridiculous\, Daisy wrestles (sometimes literally) with her grief – Ian\, a 6 foot invisible bald guy with a lot of luggage – eventually discovering that by letting\nhim into her world she is able to reconnect with the memory of her mother. \nRunning Time: 40 minutes \nPlease note: This performance takes place outside on Stockwood Discovery Centre’s lawn. DESCRIPTION:The annual Christmas lights switch-on\, Lighting up Luton for Christmas\, is returning on Saturday 23 November 2024 with an afternoon of entertainment and live music\, in partnership with Luton BID and Luton Point. \nPlease note: This year’s event entertainment and activities have been relocated to The Hat Factory Arts Centre\, Bute Street. However\, the lights switch-on will still take place from 6pm outside the Town Hall. \nThe special guest this year is Bluey\, courtesy of Luton BID. \nLuton Point will open their Enchanted Forest Grotto on the day from 10am\, enabling visitors to meet Father Christmas in his log cabin\, enjoy a festive craft and have a photo on the Woodland Throne. The grotto will be open every weekend from 23 November\, then daily from Saturday 21 December until Christmas Eve. Quiet sessions will be on each Sunday from 10 to 11am\, offering a quieter\, more relaxed environment as most of the shops won’t have opened yet. Entry is free if you spend £20 in stores at Luton Point or make a donation to charity. \nThere promises to be some great outdoor entertainment and live music on the day from 2pm\, until the light switch-on at around 6pm. \nActivities and entertainment \n\nBluey meet and greet (supplied by Luton BID)\nFace painting (supplied by Luton BID)\nChristmas carol singers and performances throughout December at Luton Point\nPrayer Tree and Nativity during December at Church Street windows in Luton Point\n\nMore entertainment and performances will be announced shortly\, please check the council’s Christmas page for details. \nLighting up Luton for Christmas is possible thanks to sponsorship through Luton Rising.
