DESCRIPTION:New Community Event “Together We Spread the Light” to Celebrate 150 Years of Luton Borough \nA brand-new community celebration\, Together We Spread the Light\, will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026\, bringing residents together to mark 150 years of Luton Borough through creativity\, culture\, and shared experiences. \nProduced by Alif New Beginnings\, the organisation behind Luton’s much-loved Colours of Eid Festival\, this new event promises to unite communities across the town in a vibrant day of workshops\, storytelling\, and a lantern-lit parade. \nThe event is proudly funded by National Lottery Awards for All\, making it possible to offer a free\, inclusive programme for the whole community. Organisers also extend their thanks to event partner Frasers Plus Luton for hosting the daytime activities\, and to Shade 7 for delivering live storytelling sessions and a free book giveaway. \nThe celebration will begin with free community workshops from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Frasers Plus Luton (shopping centre)\, where participants of all ages can take part in lantern making\, calligraphy\, and storytelling sessions. As part of the event\, the community will create 150 lanterns representing 150 local heroes\, recognising communities who have made a meaningful contribution to Luton. \nThe day will culminate in a community parade at 6:00pm\, travelling from Market Hill to St. George’s Square\, where the handmade lanterns will illuminate the town in a powerful display of unity and pride. DESCRIPTION:The Lampadophores will be coming to Luton on Thursday 9 November 2023\, at 7pm. Follow their journey with family and friends as they dance and sing their way through Bury Park to St George’s Square. See the below map for the full route the parade will follow. \n\n\n\n\nLampadophores is a Picto Facto production\, presented by Revoluton Arts. Picto Facto is a street theatre company\, featuring artists describing themselves as ‘image blowers\,’ who create inflatable structures. Their pictographic language features bright colours and abstract geometric shapes that conjure up a joyful and poetic realm of fantasy to which all audiences can relate. \nFind the parade route here. \nStorytelling & Craft Workshops \nRevoluton will be running storytelling and craft workshops at Feast Street\, in the Luton Mall\, in which you can create your very own glow-in-the-dark Lampadophores puppet to bring to the Luton parade. \nThe workshops will run on: \nThursday 26 October from 10am-4pm \nFriday 27 October from 10am-4pm \nNo prior booking required.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a sharing of scripts\, stories and poems written by Lutonians in response to the cost-of-living crisis. \n\n\n\n\nTrolley Tales is a Revoluton Associate project\, led by Shemiza Rashid\, an award-winning creative and cultural producer\, broadcaster\, writer and theatre maker. Shemiza worked with local residents\, in a series of creative writing and listening workshops\, to develop scripts\, stories and poems that capture their unique perspective on the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis. These experiences are displayed on food tins\, making up the Trolley Tales shop exhibition. \nCome along to Feast Street\, opposite ‘Chopstix\,’ in the Luton Mall\, where you will be able to pick up a Trolley Tales tin to: \n– Read about experiences from Lutonians \n– Immerse yourself in a short audio about the experiences \n– Listen to stories\, scripts and poems about the cost-of-living crisis by scanning a QR code on your phone \n– Write and share your experience about the cost-of-living crisis \n– Donate a tin for those in need \n– Take a receipt about the project \n\n\n\n\nNo sign up is required\, just turn up on the day. \n\n\n\n\nA Revoluton Arts CIC project made by Revoluton Associate Shemiza Rashid\, supported by funding from Arts Council England.
