DESCRIPTION:Equinoks\, a pop-up arts festival staged in the historical interiors of St. Mary’s church in Luton\, featuring performances by international free  improvisers\, short form film screenings and artworks by a diverse cast of artists. \nThis event will take place on Saturday\, 23 September 2023\, 2-6 pm at St. Mary’s church\, Church Street\, Luton\, LU1 3JF \nArtists include: \nViv Corringham (USA\, Voice + Effects)\nPaul Jolly (UK\, Clarinets)\nSylvia Hallett (UK\, Branches and a bicycle wheel)\nTomasz Glazik (UK\, Sax)\nYoko Miura (Japan\, Piano / Melodica)\nMark Browne (UK\, Sax + Collected Objects)\nJakub Rokita (UK\, Harmonica)\nLawrence Casserley (UK\, SPU + Sounders)\nmcddavid (Germany\, Guitar)\nPetra Haller (UK\, Dance) \nAn innovative pop-up art show is coming to Luton on the day of the Autumnal equinox – set against\nthe historical interiors of St. Mary’s church in Luton town centre. Featuring acoustic performances\nby acclaimed British and international free improvisers\, many of whom members of the longest\nrunning improvised event mopomoso\, established by the late John Russell\, as well as several\nLuton’s improvisers. \nThe free spirited\, musical performances using a variety of classical\, improvised and electronic\ninstruments will be accompanied by a display of ceramic and photographic work by Luton and\nHertfordshire artists: Faye Munroe\, Claire Davies and Anna Fairchild and interwoven by\nscreenings of short films and animations by film-makers both local and international. \nFilm-makers: \nEbba Jahn (Germany)\nAhmed Salvador and Scott McMahon (USA)\nJakub Rokita and Tomasz Glazik (UK)\nmcddavid (Germany) \n  \nArtists: \nAnna Fairchild (Photography)\nClaire Davies (Ceramics)\nFaye Munroe (Ceramics) \nThe event has been organised thanks to a generous support of Luton organisations and businesses and is a brainchild of creatives Jakub Rokita and Paul Jolly. \nEarly bird tickets are on sale on Eventbrite: https://tinyurl.com/equinoks\nFind out more about the event: https://avxluton.wordpress.com
