Join us in the community event space at the iconic St. Andrew’s Church for a fun-filled and family friendly ceramics workshop!
You will be provided a lump of clay, tools and basic hand-building techniques to enable you to make whatever your heart desires – let your imaginations run wild! You could make your new favourite mug, a vase, candlestick holders, figurines… whatever! Clay’s potential is limitless!
No experience is required, just bring yourselves, an experimental attitude and some clothes you don’t mind getting a little mucky!
You will have local ceramicists Faye Munroe and Snail Adams on hand to help you realise your wackiest ideas and ensure your creations will be kiln worthy!
ABOUT FIRING:
After the event we’ll take your sculptures away to get fired in our kiln where they’ll become a lot stronger and long-lasting! They’ll be ready at the next Clay Club where you can collect them or book on to glaze them. If you choose to glaze them, we’ll take them away to get fired again, after which they’ll come back to you all shiny and glossy – and also watertight and foodsafe!
GLAZING:
We will also have the bisque fired sculptures from last Clay Club which have fired to a blank white. You are welcome to come collect your work as is or you can glaze them to a glossy, foodsafe and watertight finish.
If you would like to return and decorate your work yourselves, we will have all the coloured underglazes and paintbrushes ready for you to add a little colour to them! We will then coat them in a transparent glossy glaze and fire them once more. A more affordable way to finish your work is to choose one of our readymade glazes and we will glaze them ourselves – you will recieve an email with more detail about this option.
All children must be accompanied by an adult!
