Hat Gardens
Hat Gardens transformed Bute Street corner in 2023, becoming our first town centre pocket park. This vibrant space brings a fresh burst of green to Luton, complete with terraced seating along the River Lea and our much-loved Arndale flamingos. It's become a natural gathering spot for community events.
Silver Street Mural
Our vibrant town got even brighter in October 2024 when local talent Silvia Lerín transformed Silver Street with 'Rough Gemstones'. This eye-catching mural - chosen by you, our community and brought to life by Luton BID, spans an impressive 47m wide by 12m high.
Summer parklet
A summer parklet at Market Hill brightened our town centre in 2024 with temporary street furniture and planters. Funded by Luton BID, it offered everyone a perfect spot to sit back, relax and enjoy the heart of town.
More for families
Free family events have brought new life to the town centre, thanks to UKSPF funding secured by Luton Council. From outdoor cinema and street performances to workshops and live music, these activities have created welcoming spaces for families to enjoy.
Town dressing
Courtesy of Step Forward Luton, vibrant town dressings have brought new life to our streets, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere and showcase the best of Luton to visitors and residents alike.
Guildford Street public art
Local artist Abi Spendlove’s ‘A River Runs Under Your Feet’ transformed a billboard in 2025 into a stunning reminder that the River Lea flows beneath our streets. This eye-catching artwork brings Luton’s hidden heritage to street level - another brilliant addition brightening up our town centre.
ABC cinema
George Street's historic ABC Cinema got a bold makeover in 2025! The striking new artwork chosen by over 1,500 locals, celebrates some of the little things that make Luton special. It’s exactly the kind of eye-catching transformation our town centre deserves.
The town centre journey continues, with more exciting spaces and experiences coming soon for everyone to enjoy.
The Stage
An exciting transformation is coming to the old Bute Street car park! The Stage will breathe new life into this prime spot in our town centre, bringing a fantastic mix of new homes, modern offices and performance spaces. Get ready for a food court packed with fresh flavours and welcoming public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Power Court
A new and iconic home for Luton Town Football Club is taking shape in the heart of the town centre. Power Court will be a new 25,000 seater state-of-the-art football stadium bringing Championship football as well as live music, new homes and a new retail and leisure offer to the town.
Open Lea
An ambitious project is bringing the River Lea back to life through Luton town centre, creating beautiful parkland along its path. This long-term transformation will uncover one of the town's historic natural treasures, putting our historic river back at the heart of Luton life.
