WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPION, STEVE DAVIS, BRINGS HIS MUSIC PROJECT TO LUTON THIS WEEKEND
World snooker champion, Steve Davis, brings his electronic music project, The Utopia Strong, to The Castle, in Luton, this Sunday (17th May).
Having formed in Glastonbury in 2018, the experimental/psychedelic band also includes Gong’s flamboyant guitarist, Kavus Torabi, as well as the internationally recognised bagpipe builder, Mike York. Forming the trio with Steve Davis, The Utopia Strong stop off in Luton as part of their 16-date UK tour to celebrate their latest album, Doperider.
Known for their largely improvised live performances, each show from The Utopia Strong builds into a final release, combining synths, pipes, harmoniums, and more across the intensely therapeutic set. Flowing at its own pace throughout the show, the three-piece are masters at showing just why their musical project should be taken as seriously as any other, because the musicianship shown on stage is yet to be found anywhere else.
On the appearance at The Castle, in-house programmer, Connor Willis, said “We’re so excited to be bringing something completely different to Luton this weekend, and it’s even more exciting that it involves a legendary sports personality. This is the perfect show for a Sunday night, and with every set being mostly improvised, we’re looking forward to seeing how the charm, and vibe, of Luton influences their performance.”
