Get ready Luton – we have the most exciting news.

It’s official, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend will take centre stage in our vibrant town of Luton this summer.

And this year’s event will be the biggest in its history!

The iconic music festival will bring together some of the UK’s biggest artists alongside a stream of international acts in a three-day music extravaganza.

Tickets go on sale in March.

FAQs

The BBC will reveal details of how to purchase tickets in March. Like previous years, the tickets will be geographically weighted, ensuring a portion is reserved for local attendees.

If you live near Stockwood Park and keen to join the event, just follow the regular ticket purchase steps. The BBC will spill all the ticketing details in March.

There is no age restriction for Radio 1’s Big Weekend however those aged 15 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over at all times.

Those aged 2 and under do not require a ticket, but must be in the care of an adult aged 18 or over.

You can get in on the action by volunteering for a number of roles over the weekend.

The volunteering programme kicks off in March. Interested? Fill out our form to register your interest.

There will be no public camping at the festival site.

No shuttle buses, but don’t worry!  There will signs pointing the way from public transport and car parks. Plus, Luton’s awesome volunteers are there to guide and support you.

The line-up for Radio 1 Big Weekend is curated by the Network’s Music Programming Team and will feature Artists from the Radio 1 playlist.

For the BBC Introducing stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Luton, the team are working very closely with ‘BBC Introducing in Three Counties & Northants’, the local Introducing show covering Luton. They are utilising the teams expertise of their music scene to curate a line-up with 50% of local artists each day.

The remainder of the line-up is put forward by the BBC Introducing shows across the UK with final selection from presenters, producers and editors at BBC Radio 1, 1Xra & Asian Network. Each BBC Introducing stage supports and platforms artists from across all genres, and ensures that the stages are inclusive and representative.

If you are a local artist wanting to play a BBC Festival stage, you can send your music to the BBC Introducing uploader.

Radio 1 supports the BBC Children In Need appeal and Comic Relief/Sports Relief each year, which in turn help a wide range of initiatives and good causes. As a result they are unable to help promote other charitable efforts across the year, or link to fundraising pages.

No need to stress—the Carnival is still on!

The Luton International Carnival, usually on the Sunday of the late May bank holiday weekend, is shifting to Monday 27 May 2024. So, definitely worth hanging around for!
