Christmas has come early for Luton, as we’ve been chosen as one of just nine special stops on Lidl’s first-ever Christmas cola truck tour.
And it makes perfect sense, with the retail giant’s largest distribution centre in the world right here on our doorstep!
The massive 15-tonne, 20-metre-long Freeway cola truck (yes, you read that right – it’s a giant cola can on wheels!) will be rolling into our town centre as part of its nationwide festive tour this November.
This isn’t just any truck – it’s a 5-metre-high cylindrical spectacle complete with a life-like pull-ring back hatch, designed to spread Christmas magic across Great Britain.
Mark your calendars: The spectacular truck will be transforming St George’s Square (LU1 2BD) into a festive wonderland on Thursday 28 November, from 12pm – 6pm.

When it arrives, local residents will have the chance to grab one of over 2,000 Middle Aisle present boxes being given away during the tour – and here’s the really exciting part: 1 in 10 boxes contains a ‘Golden Ticket’, giving lucky winners the chance to bag their entire Christmas food shop at Lidl!
But that’s not all. Mirroring Lidl’s new Christmas advert (directed by Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper, no less), the truck tour is all about making wishes come true. Luton residents can submit their Christmas wishes at the event, with Lidl promising to grant several of them – big or small.
Feeling peckish? You can step inside a life-size present box at the event and ring a bell for surprise seasonal treats, or sample festive goodies like Snowmallows and Christmas biscuits.
The fact that Luton has been chosen as one of the select tour stops adds another chapter to our town’s strong connection with Lidl.
Our close relationship with the brand is highlighted by their world’s largest distribution hub on the edge of Luton – a massive facility employing hundreds of local residents and helping keep over 100 stores stocked with customer favourites.
Keep an eye on www.lidl.co.uk/freeway_tour for more details about the truck’s visit to St George’s Square later this month.
