Exciting news in Luton—film writer and journalist Sarfraz Manzoor is curating a must-see exhibition at Wardown House, Museum, and Gallery. And guess what? You can be part of it!
Timed with the 50th anniversary of Sarfraz’s arrival in Luton, he’s calling on fellow Lutonians to contribute items that shine a light on the town’s unique story.
Sarfraz wants your personal objects with a story to tell—whether it’s work, family, pleasure, culture, or sports. Dig out that vintage sewing machine or share a snippet from your rebellious teenage diary from the ’70s. The quirkier, the better!
Taking a stroll down memory lane, Sarfraz cherishes a childhood photograph captured on his 4th birthday, a year after his family’s arrival in Luton from Pakistan. In the snapshot, he wears a pale pink shirt adorned with unmistakably ’70s style collars. This shirt, a precious relic from his childhood, will have a special place in his upcoming exhibition.
Here’s how you can get involved:
Complete the submission form here, email it with a photo of your item to Luton50@culturetrust.com, or meet Sarfraz at Wardown House on Sunday 3 December, Sunday 21 January, or Wednesday 21 February 11am – 4.30pm.
So, dive into your memories, rummage through your treasures, and let’s make Luton’s history heard!
