So, we heard about Luton being labelled an ‘unfestive’ town. What a load of nonsense! But we had a plan – go and visit Mr Christmas himself, to help set the record straight.

For 23 years, Anthony O’Toole in Fallowfields has been bringing festive joy to our town through his Christmas lights display. And guess what? This year, it’s bigger and better than ever!

This Christmas, Mr. O’Toole and his wife have gone all out, decking out their home and gardens with a whopping 65,000 lights.

They do all of this to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a charity that is close to their heart since their niece was diagnosed at a young age.

What sets this display apart? Well, Santa himself is a regular guest, making appearances as often as possible leading up to Christmas Eve. And, yes, we couldn’t help but notice Mr. O’Toole’s particularly impressive beard this year – and we can confirm, it’s legit!

Families flock from all over to snap a photo with Santa in his grotto. We were super impressed hearing about the incredible lights and the dedication behind the scenes. Mr. O’Toole spilled the beans, revealing his personal favourites.

“I love the rainbow lights, they are are controlled by a phone. I pick the colours and draw the design on the screen, press a button, and watch it come to life.”

The lights kicked off last Saturday and is keeping the nights merry with Santa visits until Christmas Eve, from 4pm to around 9pm. But the fun doesn’t end there – the lights will continue to dazzle until Saturday 6 January.

Trust us, the photo do not do it justice – you’ve got to see it for yourself! Or you can enjoy a video of our recent visit here.

If you want to chip in and support Mr. O’Toole’s fundraising mission, you can donate here. Or better yet, swing by the house and drop some spare change into the collection pot. Every bit counts.

If you decide to drop by, be sure to tag us in your photos on social media for a chance to win some fantastic prizes in our Christmas competition.
