Get ready, Luton – the biggest music event of the year is coming to our town, and we need volunteers to help make it a smashing success.

From 24 to 26 May, Stockwood Park will be hosting the legendary BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, bringing top artists and tens of thousands of music fans right to our doorstep.

But it’s not just about the acts – it’s about showing the world what Luton is made of.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with Luton Rising, Luton Council and UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to help promote the Luton Rising Festival Makers volunteer scheme. This is your chance to be at the heart of the action and welcome visitors with true Lutonian spirit, and help them access the event.

As a Festival Maker, you’ll receive free training in everything from health and safety to customer service, ensuring you’re prepared to be the friendly face of Luton. And the perks don’t stop there – you’ll also get a free t-shirt, lunch and snacks during your shifts, and a goodie bag to take home.

Sound like your kind of gig? Here’s what you need to know:

You must be over 16 to apply (under 16s can volunteer if accompanied by an adult)

Training is mandatory, but it’ll be worth it.

“We want this festival to leave a lasting legacy for Luton, and what better way than by having our wonderful residents at the heart of it? This is an incredible opportunity to learn new skills, showcase our hometown pride, and give thousands of guests an unforgettable Luton welcome.”

Councillor Javeria Hussain, Luton Rising board member and community engagement lead

Keep your eyes peeled for the Luton Rising Festival Makers team at upcoming local events like The Big Iftar on 22 March, or head straight to the volunteering page to apply.

Don’t miss out on being part of one of the biggest events Luton has ever hosted. We’ll see you there!
