Luton is about to get a serious spring makeover as locals band together for the Great British Spring Clean, the nationwide tidy-up campaign that’s sweeping across the country.
For 17 straight days, Lutonians will be grabbing litter pickers, donning gloves, and hitting the streets to show that when it comes to community spirit, this town means business.
The cleanup crusade, running from 21 March to 6 April, is bringing together everyone from schools to businesses, faith groups to town ambassadors– all united by the simple belief that Luton deserves to shine.
“This is Luton’s answer to a national call to action, and it shows just how fiercely proud we are of our town,” said Kev Poulton, who runs ABCD-in-Luton and serves as a Step Forward Luton Ambassador.
“This isn’t just about picking up litter – it’s about picking up our town’s spirit. When we clean up together, we build the pride that makes Luton special. And when hundreds of us come together, we show that our town is worth caring for.”
The response has already been tremendous, with over 40 clean-ups already in the diary.
A full plan of events is now live, but there’s room for more troops on the ground. Want to join the cleanup crew? Just turn up at one of the many events. Or if you want to launch your own litter-pick, get in touch with ABCD-Luton.
Don’t worry about equipment – registered groups will get the full kit including litter pickers, gloves, and bags.
“Whether you can spare an hour or multiple, everyone can make a difference,” added Poulton. “This is about more than just picking up rubbish – it’s about coming together and showing love for our community.”
