We’re thrilled to announce that our beloved town, Luton, is being immortalised with its very own version of the world’s most popular board game – MONOPOLY.
This exciting news comes on the heels of the heroic journey of Luton Town FC, rising from a non-league club to the prestigious Premier League in less than a decade. The captivating tale of the Hatters’ success has not only won the hearts of our community but has also caught the imagination of MONOPOLY bosses.
With Luton Town gearing up to play in the Premier League for the very first time, we couldn’t be prouder to have our town showcased in this iconic board game. The official MONOPOLY: Luton Edition will take players on a journey through our town’s most cherished landmarks, making it a doubly special moment as it’s the first time anywhere in Bedfordshire has received its very own MONOPOLY board.
Our vibrant town, with its world-famous Airport and historic Wardown House, will now replace the classic MONOPOLY London sites. In total, around 30 of our treasured Luton landmarks will get to ‘Pass GO’ on the board, representing the diverse and colourful tapestry of our community.
Produced by Winning Moves UK under the esteemed license from Hasbro, this customized game promises to be a celebration of our town’s history and heritage. The property sets will span various genres, reflecting our love for shopping, sports, hotels, leisure, charity, heritage, and more. And yes, in a nod to our past, there might even be a special hat set commemorating Luton’s once-thriving hat production.
The best part is that you, our fellow Lutonians, will have a say in the creation of this special edition. The public consultation process will allow all of us to suggest which Luton landmarks and elements should be featured in the game. Let’s come together and ensure that the MONOPOLY: Luton Edition truly represents the essence of our town.
The new MONOPOLY: Luton Edition is set to hit the shelves in spring 2024.
