If you’ve been wondering about those hoardings at the old Debenhams in Luton Point – there’s finally an opening in sight.

A spokesperson told us a new Sports Direct store will open its doors in Spring 2025, bringing a mix of popular brands to the town centre.

The store will take over the entire 45,000 square ft space, with USC, GAME, Evans Cycles and Jack Wills all joining under the same roof.

A Frasers Group spokesperson said: “We are pleased to be opening a new 45,000 sq. ft Sports Direct store, located in the former Debenhams unit in Luton’s The Mall.

“Set to open Spring 2025, this expansive store will offer customers the world’s best sports and lifestyle brands, as well as bring other brands from Frasers Group’s ecosystem, including USC, GAME, Evans Cycles and Jack Wills, to the location.”

It’s a busy time for Luton’s town centre, with more new names on the way.

new stores opening

A trio of new eateries is heading to Feast Street, adding to Luton Point’s growing foodie scene. Popular bakery chain Greggs will be setting up a new shop alongside newcomers Spud Kingz and Tikka Nation.

These latest additions follow the recent successful launches of Louisiana-based chicken sensation Popeyes and family favourite retailer Toytown earlier this year.
