Vauxhall may no longer be in Luton, but the memories and stories still are. Luton Made: Vauxhall opens this weekend and aims to showcase how the car manufacturer shaped the town we live in today.
Luton Made: Vauxhall is a new exhibition opening at Stockwood Discovery Centre this weekend (Saturday 2 May), and we got a sneak peek under the hood to see how the build is going, and even watch one of the cars being delivered.
The new exhibition will run until 28 June, and will take you on a journey from when the factory first opened in 1905, all the way through to its closure in 2025. It’s made up of artefacts, photos, uniforms, newspaper clippings and even videos. Many of the items have kindly been donated by former employees of the site on Kimpton Road.
Their opening weekend is set to be a massive event, with a family fun day on Saturday 2 May, and a Vauxhall car show on the lawn on Sunday 3 May. Both events are free and will serve as the perfect introduction to the exhibition.
But that’s not all, new cars will be on display in the space every 2 weeks until the exhibition ends, which gives you plenty of reason to visit more than once.
We can’t wait to see the history of Vauxhall come to life at Stockwood Discovery Centre!
